The Ector County Tax Assessor’s Office is in need of a Deputy Clerk for the Motor Vehicle Division. The Deputy Clerk will be under the general supervision of the Assistant Chief Deputy of the Motor Vehicle Department and/or the Senior Deputy Clerk. PRIMARY DUTIES: The Deputy Clerk will be responsible for the accurate registration and titling of motor vehicles, for recording transfers of ownership on new and used vehicles, for the collection of registration fees, title fees, and sales taxes. The Deputy Clerk will have daily, face to face interaction with the public, coupled with extensive knowledge of motor vehicle law, regulations, and procedures. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma/GED; ability to type 35 wpm with minimal errors; must know 10 key calculator by touch; must be able to file accurately and be able to handle money transactions; must have personal computer knowledge; neat and legible handwriting is required and general clerical experience preferred, but not mandatory and will required tact, self control and ability to deal with the public in a diplomatic manner. The Infrastructure Support Supervisor is to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the County’s networks, client servers, databases, and equipment. The Seasonal Worker performs assignments following specific instructions from their immediate supervisor, or crew leader. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under general supervision, the Seasonal Worker position maintains county streets, county airport, and county parks, including sealing, patches, floodplain and property issues, building inspection, traffic sign layout and designs, repairs and maintenance. Successful employee will be assigned to work at any of the following sections within the department: Road Maintenance, Traffic Operations, and Engineering. PRIMARY DUTIES: Road Maintenance: Perform a variety of duties related to streets maintenance, including assists with traffic control: places and gathers cones, flag traffic, set up work zone warning signs, and barricades; learns to operate light equipment, such as patch truck, rotary brooms, and litter truck; patch potholes; and pick up trash/litter. Traffic Operations: Perform a variety of duties related to traffic safety, airport grounds maintenance, and county parks building inspection, including assists with sign layout and design using PC, sign software, and cutter plotter; installs, repairs, and maintain traffic signs; assists with parking lot layout and stripping; assists with bulb and LED changes; assist with traffic control: places and gathers cones, flag traffic, set up work zone warning signs, and barricades; learns to operate weed eaters, chain saw, mowers; cuts grass, brush and trees; and assists with general county airport grounds repairs and maintenance. Engineering: Perform a variety of duties related to entry-level engineering services, including addressing and zoning, floodplain, surveying, contract maintenance inspections, drafting, and GIS and mappings. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be at least 17 years of age; High School Diploma or GED preferred; satisfactory driving record is required for employment; basic knowledge of road maintenance equipment, materials, methods, and procedures; basic knowledge of safety policies and procedures for road maintenance; ability to perform light to heavy manual labor; ability to read and to follow oral and written instructions; basic knowledge of blueprint; and basic knowledge of general roadway hazards and public safety matters. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: THIS POSITION IS TEMPORARY/SEASONAL (NTE: 6 MONTHS). The position requires approved safety shoes. Will be required to wear safety vest, safety glasses, and hard hat during work.
